Fire Hydrant ( ATH5 ) is Ader Tavan Nami’s Post Indicator Valve ( Post Plate Valve ), a control valve used to isolate buried sections of a firefighting water network. Unlike the hydrant models in this series, the ATH5 is not a discharge point and no hose is connected to it; its role is to open or close the flow to a hydrant loop, sprinkler riser, or fire pump line while remaining fully accessible above ground. The valve body sits below grade on the main pipeline, and only the post and the indicator window rise above the surface.
How the Position Indicator Works
The defining feature of a Post Indicator Valve is its position indicator: a plate visible through the window on the post reads OPEN or SHUT, so inspectors and fire brigade personnel can confirm the status of a buried valve at a glance, without excavation and without operating the valve to test it. This is a requirement in most industrial fire-protection audits, since a closed isolation valve left unnoticed can disable an entire hydrant network at the moment it is needed most.
Materials and Technical Specifications
The ATH5 is manufactured from CS.ST12 and Cast Iron for underground service life, and is available in 4″, 6″, and 8″ sizes to match the pipeline diameter. A protective paint finish is applied to all surfaces to resist corrosion from soil moisture and outdoor exposure, and the post height is adapted to the burial depth of each project so the indicator window stays at a readable level.
Operating Mechanism
Each unit is supplied with either a hand lever or a gear-type operating mechanism. The hand lever suits smaller diameters where the operating torque is low, while the gear type is preferred on 6″ and 8″ lines, giving controlled, low-effort operation and reducing the risk of water hammer caused by closing the valve too quickly.

Fire Hydrant ( ATH 5 ) is installed on the buried supply mains of industrial and mining facilities, educational premises, roadways, and commercial parking areas — typically at the branch point feeding a hydrant loop or sprinkler system, where the valve must be isolated for maintenance without shutting down the entire network.
